Pista Chicken Curry

Pista chicken curry is a healthy combination of Pistachios nuts and chicken. Pistachios nuts eaten as part of a healthy diet, can increase the levels of antioxidants in the blood of adults with high cholesterol. It also helps lower lipids and lipoproteins, which benefits heart health.

Ingredients (serves 4)

  1. Chicken – 1/2 kg
  2. Pistachios - 200 g
  3. Onion – 2, medium sized
  4. Coriander leaves – 1 cup
  5. Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
  6. Ginger – 2 slices
  7. Garlic – 4 cloves
  8. Turmeric powder – 1/2 tspDSC_0311 (Small)
  9. Green chilli – 4
  10. White pepper – 1/2 tbsp
  11. Oil – 3 tbsp
  12. Salt – to taste


  1. Boil pistachios and onion together. Grind the boiled pistachios and onion with a bit of water to make a thick paste.DSC_0315 (Small)DSC_0317 (Small)
  2. Grind coriander leaves, coriander powder, ginger, garlic and turmeric powder with some water to make a fine paste.
  3. Heat 3 tbsp of oil in a pan at medium heat. Add the chicken pieces and saute until it turns golden brown. Add a bit of salt. Add pistachios mix prepared in step-1 to the chicken and mix well. Add a cup of water and cover the pan, cook the chicken until well done. Add the paste prepared in step-2 and allow to boil for approx. 3-4 minutes. We should now have a thick gravy. Check for salt and add if required. Turn off the stove. Sprinkle  white pepper and serve hot !!
